How to recognise a Slitheror
This creepy dude always wants to know where you are, what you’re doing and who you’re with. Never wanting to be left out, he’s constantly scanning your social media posts to find out as much as he can about you. His finely-tuned senses pick up on every little clue in your posts.
How to deal with a Slitheror
Before you post anything online, ask yourself these questions:
- Are you sharing anything that could allow someone you don’t know to identify you?
- Have you got privacy settings in place to protect the things you share?
- Is your account set to private?
If your answer to these questions is ‘no’ or ‘I’m not sure’ then think again about what you are sharing and why you are sharing it. Talk to a parent, carer, teacher or trusted adult to make sure.
Take control of who sees your stuff: ask an adult to help you change the privacy settings on your accounts.
Make sure apps, games and websites don’t tell other people your location. Ask an adult to help you switch off the location setting on your phone, tablet or computer.
